Since the meeting Jack had locked himself inside his room and covered up the windows. He had left a message scrawled on the window 'knock on the door three times and I will let you in'. He would have actively helped students, but it had been his prep period, and he wasn't about to run around the school trying to save his students.

He had been reading the novel he always kept in his desk for whenever he had downtime, and kept a pair of sharp scissors in case his strategy of hiding had failed. Night had fallen and Jack decided it was time to leave.

Jack walked down halls with scissors in hand and a few novels in his attache case, he probably wouldn't read them but it might help the more panicked students, he figured. He reached the door to the chemistry room and knocked on it a few times.

"Sorry Mr. Krim. But when crazy things start happening I deal with them to humor to mask the inner pain and turmoil I feel," Adries replied rubbing her arm nervously, "It's just so confusing. This morning no zombies, and now it's the zombiepocalypse. So much in such a short amount of time."

Adries turned around after hearing some knocking on the Chemistry door they had just walked out of and saw Mr. Fletcher. "Hey, sir. Mr. Fletcher," she said, waving her hand to get his attention without yelling and waking everyone up.

If that was indeed mr. Fletcher, Slavoj was delighted. Someone who knew how to operate the transmitter, and someone who'd know how to fix it if it was damaged. "If that is Mr. Fletcher, we're most likely as good as safe," he said to his companion.

Ok. Good so far.

But i want to put this out there: When you post and your characters isn't with other characters (for example if you just joined or if you haven't posted in awhile and you're in a different location than a majority of the characters), put something like "Meanwhile at (your present location)" at the the top of your post. Okay? ;)

"Hello Adries, and Slavoj good to see that at least one other member of the science department other than myself survived. I trust you know what other teachers made it here." Jack said quietly.

Jack moved to sit in an empty chair and placed his scissors and attache case on the desk.

"I brought you a few books to help calm the more panicked students, it isn't much but I hope it helps."

"That's a good idea actually. Keep the ones that aren't doing anything calm by letting them read. This makes keep the bottom floor important," Adries says, "Of course there are the ones that can't read. I'm sure we have some elementary level books in the library. Oh, Mr. Fletcher Mr. Lording had brought guns from his little excursion outside if you want one."

"If you were lucky enough to have a semi-automatic rifle I would take one, but I doubt you do. A pistol would suit me fine though." Jack said as he pulled out a book and chuckled.

"'The Zombie Survival Guide' ironic, don't you think, a comedy book that suddenly becomes a true handbook. I bought it for a laugh and now I have to use what I learned by reading it to actually survive." He tossed the book to Adries.

"Here you or someone else might want it."

"Sorry sir, seemingly the two people over there only gave Mr. Lording a few handguns and a shotgun," Adries replied with a smile as she caught the book, "And the Survival Guide was never a comedy book, it was the truth! I appreciate it though. Thinking about it now I should have brought it to school instead of the comics. Oh well."

"I guess it is the truth now.Oh, and if I could have the shotgun, I would be ecstatic." he said as he pulled out The Prince by Machiavelli and The Art of War by Sun Tzu.

"Well that's the extent of my carried library. I hope it helps." Jack said.

"I guess these books will just have to do until we make sure the bottom floor is completely safe," Adries says, adding her little comic collection to the small stack of books, "And I believe that the shotgun is on Mr. Krim's desk if you want it."

"We could always assign somebody to read them to them I guess." Jack suggested looking at the small pile.

"We should also collect all books from students and teachers as it might help add to the collection. Thank you for telling me where the shotgun is by the way, though I don't think an armed teacher will help the situation though." Jack took the shotgun and moved it somewhere close but out of sight.

"There, now we might avert a full blown panic in the morning. Everything seems calm now, but who knows what could happen if the students saw weapons when daylight comes."

Charles saw that a teacher had a Zombie Survival Guide, he recognized the cover from his times with the zombie nerds

"Sweet, thats gonna help us a lot, check and see what supplies we should get if we go out to scavange again"

Adries sighed, nodding at Mr. Fletcher's suggestion. "I guess that's a good idea putting it away. We'll have quite a bit of explaining to do in the morning," she added before turning to Charles and looking at the book, "Well, we should get food obviously. But building barricades and a way for us to make food is the most important things on the list."

"We also need to talk about how the weapons should be handled. Let's only draw them in case of emergency, we can't have the students thinking that we're trying to kill them." Lording leaned back onto the desk. "We should put some of our food in the freezer... See if we can maybe have a decent lunch sometime soon."

He took out his cellphone. "Has anybody tried calling the police yet?"

"Well if giving him a gun is being put to a vote, I say as long as he conceals it well we should let him. Before I forget Charles, take the book, so if you do go out your team can have an entire list of what we need. We do need to focus on securing the school first though, and securing food, water, and medical supplies. We should probably fill up every container we can find in the school with water, we don't know how long we will have it...or how long it will stay clean." Jack said

"Also figure out where the school generator is," Adries added. She paced around a bit before saying, "Alright. Here is my plan: We try the radio transmitter first. Try to contact people and stuff. We make sure the bottom floor of the school is secure and we can then move some people down there. The bottom floor has access to the cafeteria, workshop, and library which we need."

Adries took a deep breath before continuing, "We also need to get organized here. Figure out some leaders to deal with all the students and come up with decisions. When we have most of that down we should go into the city and get some more supplies. We need seeds and farming supplies; even construction stuff to build more barriers. Weapons too. Anything anyone else wants to add?"

Now imagine being in this place at night, in the dark. Imagine the atmosphere... the vast hallways, the giant auditorium, and the fact that zombies are lucking around somewhere... And BAM! i just gave you a mental image. Have fun with it! ;)

Charles took the book

"Thanks" he said "I regognize that we need food and water, but nows the time to be building stronger defences, theres not that many zombies out yet and they won't too much of a problem while we build. We should get the football team braking up the desks for the metal bars to renforce the windows and doors. While I'm scavenging I think I should lok for some of the more harder to find mechanical things on the list, in these first few weeks, most people will be scrambling for basic food and water, but once the dust settles smart people will be looking for these things and I want to try and get a good jump start"

Adries nodded. "You're right Chuck. We're already having everyone who can break down the desks for the bars do it, thought of course they aren't working on it now since everyone is still sleeping. I say when we go out to scavenge we should check the hardware stores and start bringing things from there here so that we can build up defenses. There shouldn't be too many zombies hopefully."

"There weren't too many when we went. They must have been feeding off the dead." Lording looked around. "Do you think... if possible.... we could evacuate eventually? I mean, the school won't last us forever, even with a fence."

Silence filled the room. No one talked for a good few minutes before Adries pipped up, "Probably not. Or at least not as a school. There is just no way all of us would be able to go anywhere and survive. You should always travel in small groups, and we certainly wouldn't be one...."

"Buses and convoys would be useless, so many people would abandon their cars that roads and freeways would be deathtraps waiting to happen. If we were to hold out long term, we would need large amounts of sod so we could grow plants, enough food types that we could meet at least basic nutritional requirements. Rationing would be inevitable from the beginning.

Our best chance is to be prepared for the long haul while still getting that radio up, running, and constantly looping a message on all channels with our coordinates and a call for help. We would also need to vary the call from time to time so people know we are still alive. With the square footage available on everything from the roof to windowsills, if we capture and control all floors, we could possibly eek out an existence until the military arrives. Anyone with a military family who knows their family's units or divisions on a personal level would also be invaluable. If enough military families know their kid or enough personnel know a fellow trooper is alive, our chance of a rescue coming would increase." Jack explained.

"So our objectives for now are:
1.) Control the bottom floor and secure it.
2.) Get all supplies necessary for survival. Food, water, power, etc.
3.) Get the radio up an running so we can call for help.

Did I leave anything out?" he asked.

"I didn't even mean the school..." replied Lording. "I meant us. There's no time to be selfless. Right now we're just a giant target that the zombies will eventually reach. If we go alone, we may have a better chance. Or we may see where the other human's have been going. Speaking of which, anybody call the police?"

"I don't think anybody has called the police, but I also don't think they'll be picking up the phone anyways. Most are probably dead by this point," Adries replied, "I also don't think WE should think about abandoning the school unless there is no other option for our survival. Mr. Fletcher is right. We can live here for awhile, we just need to follow our objectives."

With that she went up to the board and wrote down the three objectives. "We'll add more when the time comes."

"If you want to go ahead and run for it James be my guest, you may get away and other students may join you. I know none of us will try and stop you and you could probably improvise some weapons and use bikes as vehicles. You would definitely lighten things up for us here, as a decent portion of the school would agree with you and make their own teams. I do have a few questions for you though. Where will you go? What will you do once you get there? Is the climate calm enough that you would have a reliable set of seasons by which to survive? How will you defend yourselves? What will you eat, and is there a reliable source of water that won't dry up or flood? I don't think you've completely thought this through and are letting fear override your better judgment."

"On your other point," Jack calmly continued "I would think the cops have problems of their own right now. I mean, people would flood to the police station and any house of worship after the outbreak became serious. The cops are probably in their homes with their families, trying to keep order in chaos at the station, or the police station is lost and they are all already dead. The military is our best chance, secluded so people don't flock there, highly trained, well equipped, and if they know family or comrades are in the building, then the stakes are very high to do a rescue operation here. I vote we turn this school into a citadel as best we can and wait." he said.

"Agreed" Charles piped in "We're not exactally in a bad position, the school can be defended we just need to be really stratigic about how we defend it."

Charles began to pace back and forth

"Once we get enough bars, securing the openings down stairs should be a cinch after all, I didn't see to many zombies wander in. I know that I'm stating the obvious, but when we clear the downstairs we should stay in groups of at least four to make sure noone gets snuck up on. Once securing the lower floor is done, along with procuring supplies, securing the grounds around school should be an objective, that chainlink fence won't be enough when the real hordes start coming. If we can, we should try and find an abandoned cement truck on the highway, we could use that stuff to build a wall, or if that fails we could raid a harware store for cinderblocks and rebar and those could be used to make a wall. The point is the more ground we can secure, the more space we have to grow food."

He raised a finger

"We also have to make a list of places not to go when we scavange supplies, I think we should shy away from police stations, churches and government offices. Too many people will flock there for protection. Also I know we need medical supplies, but going to hospitals, clinics and doctors offices is suicidal, thats where zombie outbreaks start and you don't want to be at ground zero for the zombie apocolype."

"The cement in a cement truck would have already settled by now...I remember that it sets quickly. Thank mythbusters," Adries says, watching Charles's pacing.

"I agree that we should stay away from those places. Medical supplies will be important though. Not sure where we would be able to get any though. Maybe inside manager's offices or something?"

"Office buildings and other public and privately owned work spaces usually contain some kind of first aid on hand for basic injuries, so if we nick an artery you're screwed, but for the basics there is nothing better. Construction and lumber yards will provide us with plenty of building materials, and after a few weeks probably, gun stores suddenly become a very viable option for weapons. Hospitals, doctor's offices, clinics, and police stations should open up by then as well, as most zombies would have moved on in search of food." Jack thought out loud

"There may be stragglers, but they shouldn't be too much trouble. Though to be on the safe side, if we have to hold out for a long time I'd say at least maybe four months before we hit a police station or hospital. We would probably be desperate by then anyway, so it all works out in the end." he finished.
