"Zombies might have moved on by then, but it depends on whether or not the zombies are roamers or not," Adries started, looking at the blank stares before adding, "It's what the zombies that move and try to find food are called in The Walking Dead."

"Well, glad to see we have a plan. Once we get the transmitter we should clear out anything that might be in the bottom floor. Send a group out for supplies and get everyone else to help here. That sound good?"

"Crap there goes my cement theroy" Charles tought as he continued to pace back and forth

"Or maybe not. Don't hardware stores or construction stores have supplies of concrete in its powdered form? If thats the case than we can still build that massive wall. The main problem with our supply scavenging plan is how are we gonna transport a large amount of supplies, with cloged roadways it will be hard to move large amounts of supplies or bulk items."

"Adries is right though, we need to clear the bottom floor before we do anything else."

"Luckily there are a few construction sites near here, and a supermarket and gun store a few blocks away..." Lording said. "Can zombies die of hunger?"

"That depends. Since we deduced that these are the slow, shambling types we can assume that they will decompose. Which is good," Adries says as she walks around the room in a dignified manner, "From all the zombie reading/watching I've done, the zombies don't really need to eat to survive; they just eat because it is the one thing they know what to do. That's good. The bad thing is that they don't get hungry so they won't die unless we kill them or they decompose to their limit."

Still pacing around the room Charles chimed into Adries's speech

"Even more bad news is that it takes about five years for zombies to decompose and that climate permiting, so give it somthing more like seven years"

"As for the markets, we could probably raid them now and get a lot of canned food and bottled water, the shoping carts can be used to transport a lot of the food and guns. The problem is transporting the contruction material, that crap is heavy and I don't think a shoping cart and take that much weight, but still shoping carts would make it easy to move some supplies."

"To be safe, assume they don't decompose and act accordingly. If they do decompose and we act as if they don't, then we come out all the better, but if we assume they do and they don't we could all die." Jack warned

"We should also stick to planning for now and wait until morning to do anything about the bottom floor, considering they haven't gotten up here for now we should be safe for the night. Don't give the bastards any more of an advantage than they already have. We should probably assign roles based on skill set ranging from building and planning to medical treatment and entertainment."

"That sounds good Mr. Fletcher," Adries said leaning against the desk. She took a moment to formulate her next thought, "Well. Let's go get the transmitter than head back to bed. Mr. Krim says he knows where it is. Oh, and the assigned roles sounds like a good idea."

"While we still have power, I'm gonna make some copies of the Zombie Survival Guide supply list to give out to the people on the scavenger team, this way we won't accidentally lose the book."

He yawns

"After that I'm off to bed, lot of stuff to do tomarrow"

Jack grabbed the scissors he had with him since he had left his room.

"Alright we won't use the guns as we will probably need them tomorrow and we need to explain the weapons to the other students before we use them. Let's just take some silent, home made weapons and do this fast and quiet, I don't like leaving this room at night. Makes us vulnerable."

((Night then jad.))

Adries nodded before adding, "We shouldn't even use the guns around the school if we can. Don't want to attract a horde of them to the school."

With that she grabbed her hammer and walked out of the room, before going back in remembering she didn't know where the transmitter was.

Jack chuckled "forgot we need Mr. Krim didn't ya?"

"We may just need to call it quits for tonight, and let everyone get some rest, we do have a long day tomorrow, and we are all fairly exhausted from the trial that was today."

"Yeah, you're right. I guess that is what we'll do for now. I'm still a bit tired, it'll take me awhile before I get fully awake. We'll go in 10 minutes or so," Adries says inbetween yawns.

"I have a bit more energy left in me, you go ahead and lay down and I'll take first watch of the door. Relieve me in about six hours, I'm sure I'll be ready to sleep by then."

((Damn you guy playing Mr. Krim!!!!~~))

"That sounds good," Adries replied, heading into a corner and sleeping.

Of course the sleep was very uneasy, with thoughts dwelling upon all the things unsaid to the people she loved. Family, friends, acquaintances...all lost in the turmoil of this new problem. Zombies haunted the dreams of everyone that night. Dreams of gruesome slaughter of everyone they had known, with many having dreams of their own demise. Such it would be for them all for a long time.

((Going to bed. Night.))

Lording stood up and patted Fletcher on the arm. "I think I'll take a look around for a minute." he said. He then proceeded to walk downstairs to B4. There, on the stair case, he saw Henry, a paranoid wreck.

"Oh dear god..." he said. "The zombies wanted me to lead them to the magical rainforest of gumdrop candybears." Lording looked at Henry in shame before lowering down and wrapping his hands around his throat.

"I'm sorry," Lording said, snapping the young boys neck. A single tear fell from his eye when he was finished. "We couldn't have anyone going crazy... Not here..." He traveled back upstairs and went to Mr. Fletcher. "If anyone asks, I fell asleep early, okay?" With that, he lay down on a couch in the office and went to sleep.

"I understand, fear is a disease that will kill us all untreated." Jack said

"Sad to see, but try and get some rest. I never slept all too much anyway." jack then whispered to himself.

"I honestly don't know if we'll make it. We'll try, that's for damn sure, but I just don't know."

Liked The pace of the last Chapter. Didn't seem as rushed as Chapter 3. Movin' Along!

Chapter 5: Daybreak

Without Mr. Krim to help them, Adries, Jack, & Mr Lording try to catch some z's before dawn, but it's of no use. The sun is already rising, and some of the students are starting to wake. It's a good chance that some will be calm after post-realization (that most of their family is either dead or zombifed, and there's nothing they could've done to stop them), but hey, I've been wrong before...

Lording awoke to find himself not in his bed. He silently cursed his fate and walked over to Mr. Krim and Fletcher. "We should've brought the coffee maker up here." He sat at one of the desks and leaned his arms on the table.

Slavoj got up. "No no need for coffee," he said, and took a swig from his flask. It woke him up pretty well. "Want some?" he offered it to Lording. "From my country, though it's pretty strong - salamander brandy"

"Normally I would say no, but it is the end of the world so why not." Jack said before snatching the flask from Slavoj's hand and taking a swig from the flask.

"You weren't kidding about it being strong, but that's half the fun. We should probably try and find a vending machine or something for food, we are about to have a bunch of hungry students and teachers and as far as I know, we can't feed em." Jack pointed towards the blackboard where they had written up survival objectives from the night before.

"We need to get at least number one done today. If we can get number three done as well I will be ecstatic, and number two has no chance of being done today but we need to start. We will also need to explain to students why we now have three pistols and a shotgun."

"Explaining that to students won't be hard - trying to keep them from the weapons will be harder," said Slavoj, taking another swig before stowing the flask away. At this rate, it would go away in three days. Shame.

"The students will be panicking, though. That is our worst enemy. Panic, disorganisation, and teenage rebellious spirit."

"I don't think I'll drink just yet..." Lording said. "I'd like to keep my sanity for now. And Jack, don't worry about food. There's a freezer full downstairs that we checked on earlier, plus we brought some food from our little trip into town." He motioned towards a bag that had some bread and fruit in it. "Feel free to take a bit, though we might want to go back soon if we want to eat something healthy." He stood up and started to walk around. "We don't need to tell the students about the guns. Let's just... keep them hidden for now. Break them out in an emergency." He looked around the room.

"We have 6 guns... Fletcher and I have the shotguns, and Adries and Krim have two of the pistols. Pistols shouldn't be too hard to hide, but shotguns... Speaking of which, two pistols haven't been claimed yet. Any takers?"

"If we break them out in an emergency without telling the student body we will create a panic when we want one least. Better to do it now and get the panic over with while we can still hold some semblance of control over the student body. That way we only have to deal with zombies and not zombies plus panicked students thinking we are going to turn this school into Jamestown. After the panic about the guns we can hide them from the students so they won't see or take them, but to not tell them is inviting disaster." Jack reasoned

"On the food part, I never did eat much either, if I eat around Noon I should be okay, but the students will probably want something once they all awake. Though we should focus on getting that radio and getting it running after we completely secure the downstairs area. After that we should, as I said last night, assign jobs based on skill set on everything ranging from leadership, defense, and overall strategy to cooking, water collection, and entertainment."

"Entertainment?" Slavoj laughed. "And then you want what, psychological help to those that have that kind of problems? We need everyone working on common goal - survival," he stood up. "Survival, and getting the radio transmitter here. The army will be able to help us"

"Entertainment is important, if we don't the stress will get to the students and drive both them and us to insanity!" Jack stood up "Just last night a student thought the zombies wanted him to lead them to the damn Gumdrop forest, and I could hear his insane ramblings while I was on watch last night! He was in the damn stairwell and I could hear him, so don't you tell me that we need to put constant pressure and stress on these students! They need an escape every once in a while or they will end up like that poor child, do you want to end up like him? Even cavemen realized they needed a break from survival, and so do we.

I agree that survival is the most important, but you can have the best fortress in the world, but if the people inside are mentally broken, then you have just built a very secure insane asylum. We get this place secure, and then we need to form a fully functional tribal village at the very least." Jack flopped into the chair and put his face in his hands.

"I'm sorry, that outburst was uncalled for, but after hearing that child for a good hour, I'm nearing the end of my rope." He apologized

"We need to allow these kids some kind of escape every once in a while, or we will die. Someone will have a mental break, do something stupid, and suddenly the first floor is crawling in reanimated corpses. Entertainment is not as important as basic needs, but it is important, so do not belittle it."

"Christ almighty, with all your talking I'm sure all the students are awake!" Adries says finally making her presence known. After the sun had risen she had started fixing up her black jacket so that it wouldn't flutter around, making it harder for any zombies to grab a hold of it.

"Alright. Mr. Krim and someone else will go get the transmitter and clear out anything in the bottom floor. Whoever doesn't go will help deal with the students: calming them down, giving them food, so on and so forth. The library is all we have for entertainment, but if we can get the computer room working we should be able to keep them occupied."

She took a look at the two extra pistols on the desk before saying, "We should tell the students that a few teachers have guns. That should calm some of them down knowing there is someone who can protect them. Others will ask for a gun, but we can't give any to them. At least not until we know how they'd act."

"I'll go, and the rest of you after calming the students should probably come up with a way to secure the ground floor and anything below that." Jack took a pair of sharp scissors and a hammer and put the hammer in his pocket.

"Never know what you will find, should be prepared for any situation. Tell Mr. Krim that I will be waiting outside the door for him." With that said, he walked outside the door and leaned on the opposite wall.

Charles approched the small group of people who had woken up

"Hey guys. I had this crazy dream that there were zombies and.."

He realizes that everyone has some kind of weapon and out the window he sees a slowliy shambling figure in the distance

"Aw crap it wasen't a dream" He said "Still, at least we're gonna claer the downstairs today. I'll check with the football guys about the progress of the desk breaking down process, so far we have an ass load of bars and by the end of the day we'll have a crap load of bars"

He picked up his hammer

"so we gonna clear down stairs today?"

"I guess we will. No guns unless necessary alright? I guess I'll deal with the students unless you guys need me to protect you?" Adries asked with a sly smile, getting out her notebook and drawing a little map of where all the food machines are, "If any of you teachers know how to open them without paying it would be much appreciated. I don't think kids will want to pay or share even with the situation."

"Humm I might need some protecting Adries" Charles said without really thinking and he began to turn red when everyone gave him a strange look

"Errrr.Ummm, so ..... if we need to get into the vending machines, can't we just smash it open the glass with a metal bar?"

"I know one way," says Mr. Lording. "You find an axe and chop it open!" He started laughing to himself. "Food is the least of our worries, though. How long do you guys think the water systems are gonna hold?" He picked up a knife from one of the bags. "I thought we'd need this to cut food... but it can cut zombies as well, right?"

"Need my protection eh? Tsk, tsk I thought you were a man Chuck," Adries said jokingly before turning to Mr. Lording, "Knives can only be used for one of them. Don't think we want zombie jelly on our bread. It'd be a bit dangerous having to get that close too. And food is important, everyone is waking up and asking for breakfast by now. We'll have to provide them with some. Maybe we can just bust through the machines."

Charles knew Adries was joking, but still felt slightly embarresed whe nshe rubbedsalt in the wounds like that

"Yea, we want to keep our foor knifes and zombie killing knifes seperate, even the smallest amount of zobie goo was ingested you would did, but not zombifiy unless your mouth or throat had an open sore. Still I don't want anyone dieing of zombie goo."

"I think we should serve the perisable goods first, eventually the power will probably go out and tha means the freezer would not work anymore. Untill we can make out own power the freezer will always be indanger of stoping, then we will have a lot of spoiled food."
